Cagey Birthday Card
Just thought I'd show you the card I made for my oldest Grandson's 5th birthday today. First time I used my new Tim Holtz machine...still lots to learn, but it's fun. I had to make him a card because I learned recently when I bought a card for him to give to his Grandpa for his birthday, he still wasn't satisfied until he made his own card for Grandpa...and it had to be the "biggest card Grandpa ever got"...too cute.

Altered Doll
A friend of mine asked me for a picture of my State Fair Altered Doll so I thought I'd share it with anyone who hadn't seen it at the meeting. She is the antique looking doll. She won 1st place. :-) When I got home, rather than throwing my ribbons in the box with my other 20 yrs. old ribbons, I decided to make a doll out of them.

After our August Calligraphy program, in which we designed decoupaged wood plaques (see post below this one), I came across an article in a publication I picked up at Borders recently, "Create With Me, Artistic Adventures with Children" (Summer 2011 issue). On page 108 appears an article titled "Power Plaques", by Bethany Kartchner. Since I had a few supplies left over from this program, I did them with my little granddaughter Abby and her friend Tori, both 8 years old. Here are their creations, with a little help from Mimi! We loved the way they turned out.
August KCG Program

These are a few of the decoupaged wood plaques completed at our August program. Some are "works in progress". The orientation is not right for three of them- Sorry, I'm still trying to figure that out!
These beautiful decorative plaques were designed by Diane G., Robin W., Debbie R., Julie T.,Donna O. Nancy A., Kathy V., not necessarily in that order. Diane

Paula's Class
Paula has some great pictures on her blog (taken by her lovely assistant Paige). Check them out. And I'm sure others have pictures they took that they can post here! hint, hint.
I have had something on my mind and I'm throwing it out there for everyone... I am wanting more soldering. I'm wanting to make a shadowbox like Paula's.... Is anyone up for a follow-up session to make the shadowboxes? It would be good reinforcement of our skills before we forget everything. Just wondering...
